Prince Philip Cancels His Annual Appearance With Queen Elizabeth II Due to Hip Problems

Every year we're used to seeing Prince Philip accompany Queen Elizabeth II to the Maundy church service, but this year, things were a little bit different. Even though the 96-year-old royal was listed in the Order of Service as a guest, Philip canceled his appearance last minute. "The Order of Service was printed some weeks ago when it was hoped the Duke would be able to take part," a palace spokesperson told People . "HRH has since decided not to attend." While Philip did initially intend on going, a royal source revealed that he ultimately chose not to because he's been experiencing some "trouble with his hip." It's also possible that his hip trouble is what caused him to skip out on Prince Andrew's appointment as the new Colonel of the Grenadier Guards last week. We hope he feels better soon! Princess Margaret's Luxurious Morning Routine Will Have You Rethinking Your Pamper Sessions

We always imagined that life inside the walls of Buckingham Palace was glamorous, but we could never have guessed how decadent Princess Margaret's morning routine used to be. According to a chapter found in the book Ma'am Darling: 99 Glimpses of Princess Margaret , a biography written by Craig Brown, the Queen's late sister used to have a luxurious routine that started at 9 a.m. with "breakfast in bed, followed by two hours in bed listening to the radio, reading the newspapers ('which she invariably left scattered over the floor') and chain-smoking." After spending an hour in a bath that would be run for her, getting her hair and makeup done, and dressing in clean clothes, the royal would then head downstairs for a "vodka pick-me-up" before joining the Queen Mother for "a four-course lunch" and "half a bottle of wine per person." 3 Reasons We'll Be Seeing More of Prince Harry in the Coming Years

The royal family are many different things - sure, in lots of ways they are like any other family, but they are also an icon of national identity and history , as well as a business. They represent the UK overseas and recognise the achievements and struggles of those in their own country. They support charities, and they maintain royal traditions. There needs to be continuity in order for the family to survive, and so one of the most important roles of a monarch or future monarch is to produce an heir and a "spare." That younger sibling is next in line to the throne after their elder brother or sister, and so until the elder starts having children, they are treated as such, but what comes after that? Harry and Meghan's Wedding Will Include Members of the Military For a Special Reason

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just expanded the guest list for their wedding . On Wednesday, Kensington Palace announced that 250 members of the British Armed Forces would be attending the ceremony on May 19. "Regiments and units that hold a special relationship with Prince Harry will provide ceremonial support at the wedding and during the carriage procession at the request of Kensington Palace," the statement reads. "More than 250 members of the Armed Forces will perform ceremonial duties at the wedding ." Members of the Household Cavalry will line the staircase at St George's Chapel, while State Trumpeters and a Captain's Escort will provide additional ceremonial support. There will also be units along the streets of Windsor, including members of the Windsor Castle Guard from 1st Battalion Irish Guards as well as Armed Forces personnel from Royal Navy Small Ships and Diving, Royal Marines, 3 Regiment Army Air Corps, The Royal Gurkha Rifles, and RAF H

Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II Almost NEVER Show PDA - Here's Why

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip have been married for 70 years , but we've only gotten a few glimpses of their romance. While couples like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have no qualms showing off their love , the two are more traditional when it comes to their relationship. Over the years, they have made numerous appearances together, but they almost never show PDA. While it's not technically against royal protocol to hold hands or kiss in public, they simply choose to remain more professional when they're serving as "working representatives of the British Monarchy." Of course, that isn't to say that they haven't shown off their affection for each other from time to time. Not only did the queen hold onto her husband during their 70th wedding anniversary photos , but they once snuggled up under a blanket at the Braemar Gathering in September 2015. See some of their sweetest (and rarest) PDA moments ahead. Related: 11 Things You Didn't Know

3 Things Angelina Jolie Has Said About Dating Again Since Splitting From Brad Pitt

News broke earlier this week that Angelina Jolie is reportedly dating a "handsome, older-looking" real estate agent following her separation from Brad Pitt in September 2016. However, other reports are claiming that the 42 year old actually has "no interest in dating at all" and that "she is absolutely not seeing anyone." While the actress has yet to confirm or deny the speculation, she has briefly opened up in the past about how she doesn't enjoy the single life. Still, Angelina has stressed that the well-being of her family is the only thing she's focused on at the time. As we wait for more details about Angelina's relationship status to unfold, take a look at the few things she's said about dating since splitting from Brad. Why Queen Elizabeth II Won't Be Busting Any Moves at Harry and Meghan's Wedding

Queen Elizabeth II may be a binge-drinking , horse riding , social-media savvy nonagenarian , but even she has to draw the line somewhere. Reportedly, the 91 year old will be shying away from showing off any dance moves at her beloved grandson Prince Harry's upcoming wedding to Meghan Markle. Katie Nicholl, royal expert and author of the new book Harry: Life, Loss, and Love , told ET that while the queen will have a "very prominent and important role" in Harry and Meghan's wedding on May 19, she won't be hitting the floor at the reception - especially if the Spice Girls end up performing. "She's going to want to be a very important part of that day and indeed she will," the author explained. "But I think when it comes to the evening reception and certainly the party, if the Spice Girls are performing, then I don't think the queen's going to be on the dance floor." If Meghan Markle Has Tattoos, Here's Why We'll Never Know About Them

Meghan Markle certainly isn't afraid to break from royal tradition when it comes to style. Case in point: Prince Harry's soon-to-be wife was recently spotted sporting a messy side bun that stands in stark opposition to the perfectly tidy updos her future sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge is famous for. But would the beauty rebel go so far as to dare to have a tattoo? Not that there isn't some precedent for royals having tattoos . Princess Stephanie of Monaco is inked with a dolphin tat on her ankle and a sun bracelet on her wrist, and may have more tattoos. Princess Sofia of Sweden has also not been afraid to show her tattoo love - even while wearing her wedding dress. But the only evidence we could find that Meghan has ever allowed a tattoo to grace her much-envied bod was only temporary in nature, and of the henna variety. The beautiful bride-to-be was photographed with a henna design on her wrist and hand during a trip to India last year. Meghan has not dis

Shiseido Invests in Violet Grey

Shiseido has made an investment in luxury beauty retailer Violet Grey. “We have to gain our own capabilities, we have to study more, and that’s exactly why we have decided to look into an e-commerce company Violet Grey,” Shiseido president and chief executive officer Masahiko Uotani said in a presentation about Shiseido’s three-year corporate strategy in early March. “We decided to take a minority stake in this e-commerce company Violet Grey so we would be able to gain these e-commerce capabilities on our own.” A spokesman for Shiseido Americas issued a follow-up statement to WWD: “Shiseido Americas has taken a limited, minority interest in Violet Grey Inc., an online luxury beauty retailer with whom several of our brands do business. Violet Grey’s unique approach to prestige beauty is well-aligned with Shiseido’s e-commerce strategy. This investment offers us the opportunity to grow our existing presence on VG’s online platform, and to gain from Violet Grey’s unique insights into the

Gloria Steinem on Feminism, Empathy and the Potential Upside of Trump

Gloria Steinem wants you to put your phone away sometimes, for feminism’s sake. “As wonderful as the technology we have today may be, we can’t empathize with each other on a screen or even, as much as I love books, on a page,” Steinem said, looking out at a dozens of phones being held up to get her photo. “It only happens when we’re together in this way, with all five senses.” The writer and political, social and feminist activist spoke Thursday evening with her friend and Ms. magazine colleague Amy Richards at a relatively small event hosted by Everlane, in support of Feminist Camp, an immersive multi-day conference of sorts held in multiple cities that explores women’s issues, causes and solutions. Steinem and Richards touched on a host of social issues and ideas, from the female farm workers that sparked her now more than 50-year career as an activist and are still subject to pervasive industry harassment to the notion that all women, given cultural training, are essentially “female

Kilian Hennessy Partners With Urban Dove for Fragrance Workshop

Kilian Hennessy is sharing his love of fragrance with Urban Dove, a nonprofit organization that provides young kids with the skills needed to become successful adults. Teaming with model Constance Jablonski, Hennessy is inviting 12 girls between the ages of 10 and 12 from Urban Dove to his New York flagship Kilian store Saturday. The girls will receive an introduction to the world of fragrance as they explore Hennessy’s store. “When [Jablonski] approached my wife to see if I would donate my time to Urban Dove to help open the girls’ horizons to a different world, I agreed immediately,” Hennessy said. “I thought it would be fun for the girls to come to my downtown store and discover Kilian fragrances. I do hope that one of them will fall in love with this world like I did 24 years ago.” The girls will be invited to participate in a series of workshops, like an introduction to the world of fragrance, the business of beauty and a raw ingredient testing. Hennessy is providing samples of hi

Heidi Klum Just Bought This Downtown Penthouse

Heidi Klum has got herself a new downtown Manhattan fixer-upper in a loft building popular with celebrities. The model, fashion designer and “Project Runway” cohost just paid $5.1 million for a penthouse atop a SoHo loft building, although it’s far from move-in ready. Used as an art studio for three decades by its previous owner, the 5,000-square-foot penthouse is a blank canvas for Klum to renovate however she wants — whether it be an East Coast home or an office. Whatever her plans, there are many nice original features for her to play with, such as wood columns with octagonal bases, exposed wood beams and 12-foot-high ceilings, as well as views of the World Trade Center and 56 Leonard Street, aka the Jenga Tower. The 44-year-old mother of four also has the possibility to create her own private rooftop oasis as she can negotiate roof deck rights with the co-op board, according to the listing. Klum isn’t the only celebrity to have been attracted to the location. “Sleepless in Seattle”

Aerin Partners With Rosewood Hotels & Resorts For Amenity Line

Aerin is introducing its first line of amenities. In an exclusive partnership with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, the brand is launching Coral Palm, a collection of six skin-care and body products at the Rosewood Bermuda resort in May. The launch follows the reopening of the resort, which closed in January for a $25 million renovation. “Both Aerin and Rosewood are luxury lifestyle brands,” said Aerin Lauder, founder of her namesake brand. “What’s fun about the Aerin brand is that it’s very much inspired by travel, destinations and storytelling.” For the inspiration behind Coral Palm scent, Aerin looked to Palm Beach, Fla., where she has a brick-and-mortar store and where her family frequently vacations. The scent is meant to be tropical, warm and inviting, and Lauder thought it would be a good fit for vacationers at the Bermuda resort. The products consist of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body cream, a body soap bar and a facial soap bar. The Coral Palm fragrance notes include citru

Dior Brings Couture to Chinese Fans

SHANGHAI — Dior was back in Shanghai for its second major event in as many weeks, reshowing its haute couture collection on Thursday night, with the addition of a 12-piece capsule couture collection offered as an homage to China. According to artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri, the inspiration for the new pieces, fashioned in red and pink, came from Dior’s archives, where she found an object that signified the fascination Christian Dior himself had for China. “I found this fan in the archive that Christian Dior did for his first show. He also used the fan to put on top of the Miss Dior perfume because he wanted people not only to see the collection but to smell the idea of the Dior house. This capsule translates parts of the Dior archive into the pleats, like the fan. We work with the pleats of Mr. Dior, like the Bar jacket, the skirt and also the evening dress,” she explained. A large coterie of Dior people has been in Shanghai preparing for the show and taking appointments with co

Is J. Crew Fixed?

Eliza Cohen, a 29-year-old retail and marketing specialist who now lives in Austin, has a deep connection with J. Crew. She grew up in New England and as an adult visited its stores frequently — three times per fiscal quarter — and from 2009 to 2012 spent around $150 each visit. But that changed around 2013, when J. Crew was knee-deep in fashion with a capital “F,” and started releasing collaborative product with designers like Sophia Webster, who produced a line of shoes with the company that retailed from $320 up to $695. By then Cohen was fed up and decided to pen “How to Fix J. Crew,” an open letter to Mickey Drexler, the company’s chairman and former chief executive officer, with a list of suggestions on how to turn around the brand. But J. Crew is currently trying to win her (and other customers) back. Drexler was succeeded by James Brett and former president and creative director Jenna Lyons is no longer involved. Numbers are showing signs of hope. The company reported this week

Hannah John-Kamen, a Villain on the Rise

Like many Millennials, Hannah John-Kamen grew up immersed in the cinematic worlds of Steven Spielberg. Now her immersion in his canon of stories is a little more permanent. The British actress, who has appeared in “Black Mirror” and “Game of Thrones,” is one of the stars of Spielberg’s big budget sci-fi flick “Ready Player One,” adapted from Ernest Cline’s 2011 book. John-Kamen, a self-described “huge fan” of the book even before the movie was on her radar, auditioned for a new character created for the film. After sending in a tape, she flew to Los Angeles to meet with Spielberg himself at Amblin Studios. “I was shaking, I was so nervous,” John-Kamen recalls of her first meeting with the acclaimed director. “I went to the washroom and I called my dad — nobody even knew I was in L.A. meeting Steven — and then I told my dad, ‘Hi, Dad, by the way I’m in L.A. about to meet Steven Spielberg,’ and he’s, like, ‘OK. Just look in the mirror, be calm, just enjoy yourself and just be who you are

Vetements’ Guram Gvasalia, Buyers Say Highsnobiety Story Is Fake News

According to buyers and Guram Gvasalia, Vetements’ chief executive officer, the idea that the brand’s popularity is waning is, well, fake news. On Thursday, Highsnobiety published a piece with multiple unnamed sources claiming that the brand, which is designed by Demna Gvasalia, who is also the creative director at Balenciaga, is losing favor with consumers and retailers. The variety of unnamed sources, who were identified with nebulous descriptions such as “one buyer” or a “former shop manager,” contributed the lack of sales to Vetements moving its headquarters to Zurich, lack of newness and inflated pricing. In a statement sent to WWD, Guram Gvasalia said the independent company is outperforming market expectations and showing over 50 percent growth in comparison to the previous year. “It is sad to see the state of journalism today. In the era of click-baits, using the name of our company in the article is a click-bait itself, and even more so when it’s mentioned in a negative headli
