While New Yorkers braced themselves for an unusually cold winter, writer-director Nastasya Popov was embracing the chill.  “ Winter fashion is cool. I like wearing my vintage fur,” says the L.A.-based Popov, in New York earlier this month for the premiere of her first feature film “Idiotka.”  The film is getting released almost a year after its world debut at South by Southwest. On the final night of New York Fashion Week, Net-a-porter hosted a private dinner at new West Village hot spot Le Chêne to celebrate the launch of Willy Chavarria on the site. On Friday evening, the scene outside The Mercer hotel’s subterranean club (Sub)Mercer felt far from the sanitized NYFW as of late. PDT alum Jeff Bell is setting out to make Kees, his new cocktail bar, another staple of the New York dining scene. But rather than recreate an existing hit, he focused the concept on the appeal of tried-and-true classic cocktails.  “I’m a patient guy,” says Bell, who began at East Village speakeasy Please Don’t Tell as a bartender in 2010 and took over as owner a decade later. “I’ve been at PDT 16 years, and if I’m gonna do something new, I really gotta do it right,” he adds. “And that’s what Kees is all about. After taking over the Metropolitan Opera House for his 45th anniversary show, Michael Kors kept the New York feel going with an after party across the street at P.J. Clarke’s.
