The MTV Video Music Awards is returning to the screen on Sept. 12. Largely regarded as one of music’s biggest nights, the annual ceremony has captured audiences since its inception in 1984 with scene-stealing performances, over-the-top red-carpet looks and nostalgic viral moments that will live in the pop-culture zeitgeist forever. On Tuesday, MTV gave a series of teaser announcements about this year’s VMAs, including tapping award-winning songstress Demi Lovato as a performer. Who are the performers for the 2023 MTV VMAs? Lovato’s upcoming appearance at the award show is significant, since it makes the first time in six years the singer has last touched the VMA stage.
