Cynthia Erivo Gets Extraterrestrial in Balenciaga, Ariana Grande Marries Light and Dark in Schiaparelli and More at the ‘Wicked: For Good’ NYC Premiere

Theatricality was the fashion memo for the “Wicked: For Good” premiere in New York City on Monday night, featuring designer looks worn by Oscar-nominated stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande and more. Pieces by Balenciaga, Schiaparelli, Givenchy and more featured on the red carpet, with method-dressing approaches and ornate design. WWD breaks down those looks and more ahead. Cynthia Erivo Cynthia Erivo John Nacion Cynthia Erivo channeled the dark side of her character, Elphaba, in a theatrical black gown from Balenciaga. The dress featured a drop waist silhouette with a voluminous skirt. The bodice was fitted, with fabric contrast from a soft tone to a glossy sheen. Twirling feather motifs featured along the bustline, while the long sleeves included a glove element to frame the Oscar-nominated actress’ nails. Makeup for Erivo’s look was provided by Joanna Simkin, with nail tech by Shea Osei. The actress’ look was curated by stylist Jason Bolden.
