Delvaux Unveils Supersize Bag Designed by Jean Colonna

THINK BIG: Delvaux is living large for spring 2019 with the launch of a supersize version of its Brillant bag designed in collaboration with French designer Jean Colonna. Dubbed l’xxl, the style, priced at a mighty 8,500 euros, is also more supple than the classic Brillant and comes in two colors: black or vegetal. Features include two detachable pouches, an exterior tag with a polished steel mirror and a black-and-white striped cotton canvas lining. “I started with certain basic codes of the Brillant, deconstructed it, oversized it, and used Dream, a new leather. With its sensuous feel, and thanks to its waxy, translucent and supple coating, this high-quality, natural, rawhide-like leather makes each bag unique,” said the designer, who rose to prominence in the Nineties. The aim, he explained, was to “break the standard codes” of how bags are carried by introducing a new attitude. “I wanted to give this exceptionally high-quality bag a spontaneously nonchalant — if not to say irreverent — attitude,” he added.
