Natalie Portman, Sydney Sweeney and Katie Holmes are just a few of the stars trying out the peekaboo bra trend this year after the style had a major moment in 2023. Bra tops, of course, are nothing new: Jean Paul Gaultier’s groundbreaking cone bra became synonymous with one of its first celebrity wearers, Madonna, in the 1980s. The pop icon flouted fashion norms by turning underclothes into day clothes, making a splash on the typically straight-laced Cannes Film Festival red carpet in one of Gaultier’s sultry sets.
