Elsa Hosk Revives Mugler’s Mesh Knit Gown Worn by Claudia Schiffer in 1995 at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival

Elsa Hosk wore a piece of fashion history on the red carpet for “The History of Sound” premiere on Wednesday at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The longtime model wore a custom remake of the mesh knit gown and the archive velvet satin cape seen at Mugler’s Cirque d’Hiver fall 1995 collection. The ensemble was originally worn by Claudia Schiffer on the runway. Elsa Hosk at the “The History of Sound” red carpet at the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival on May 21 in Cannes, France. The formfitting dress featured long sleeves and horizontal stripes, creating a semi-sheer effect throughout the look. At the high neckline were layered strings of pearls, adding color and textural contrast to the ensemble. The cape draped and flowed behind Hosk in bundles of velvet and satin fabric. When it came to the final touches of her attire, Hosk wore a pair of black pointed-toe heels.
