Sophie Ellis-Bextor Fulfills Her ‘Elizabeth Taylor Caftans’ Era at BAFTA Awards 2024 and Performs ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ in Sophie Couture

Before Sophie Ellis-Bextor brought “Murder” to the dance floor, she delivered retro glamour on the red carpet at the 2024 BAFTA Awards on Sunday in London. “It’s hopefully where I’m heading in my old age…Elizabeth Taylor caftans,” Ellis-Bextor said of her look by Antonio Riva. “My New Year’s revolution was more caftans.” Sophie Ellis-Bextor attends the 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards at The Royal Festival Hall on Feb. 18 in London. The pop star arrived in a black dress featuring embroidered tulle and a crewneck bodice embellished with colorful beads and 3D floral appliqué. Boosting the retro effect, she styled her hair in a ’60s-inspired half-updo. Her makeup included a wing-tipped eyeliner and pink eyeshadow. Ellis-Bextor, who performed her hit song “Murder on the Dancefloor” from the “Saltburn” soundtrack, shared on the red carpet that she’s looking forward to seeing Barry Keoghan again after meeting him at the film’s Los Angles premiere. “I’m very much hoping he’s not traumatized by hearing ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ tonight,” she said, referencing the actor’s final scene in the film, in which he dances nude to the song — a moment that went viral and gave the 2001 song a chart-topping revival.
