A Look Back at Prince William’s First Day at Eton College

Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton marked a special occasion on Tuesday when they brought their 13-year-old son Prince George to Eton College for the first day of the next chapter in his education. But it was just over three decades ago that a young Prince William found himself in the same position as his teenage son. Getty Images On Sept. 6, 1995, Prince William began his enrollment as a student at the same historic institution, located in Berkshire, England. The occasion, unlike that of Prince George’s first day, was markedly different, with a string of photographers and camera operators waiting outside Manor House to take photos and video of Prince William with his family. William was joined by his immediate family members for his first day of Eton College, escorted to Manor House by his late mother, Princess Diana, and then-Prince Charles. Prince Harry, who was days away from turning 11 years old, also joined his big brother and parents. Harry also went on to attend Eton College from 1998 until 2003.
