Approximately 32.8 percent of adults don’t get enough sleep, meaning one third of the adult population is currently deprived of decent sleep. We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but, on a personal and societal level, this poses a lot of problems — from weekend immunity to increased chances of distacted driving.
Want to foster better sleep hygiene? There are a few ways you can begin.
“The basics matter much more than the gadgets. Keep a fairly consistent sleep and wake schedule, get bright light in the morning, exercise regularly, and give yourself some time to transition from the demands of the day into sleep,” Dr. Shelby Harris, a board-certified clinical psychologist who specializes in behavioral sleep medicine, shares with WWD. “Your bedroom should be cool, dark, and comfortable, but you don’t need a special eye mask, tea, supplement, or weighted blanket to sleep well. Those things can be nice additions if you enjoy them, but they aren’t requirements for healthy sleep.”
That being said, we’re commerce writers over here, and we’ve tested no shortage of said masks, supplements, and blankets
