Elle Fanning brought back 2024’s viral mob wife trend with her Coach look at the American label’s spring 2027 ready-to-wear collection presentation on Wednesday at Basketball City during New York Fashion Week.

The Oscar-nominated “Sentimental Value” actress wore a leopard-print coat with sinuous lapels and a long, midi frame. Beneath her fall-oriented outerwear piece, Fanning wore a glossy red skirt with a black blouse and Fleur du Mal peek-a-boo layered bra. Fanning added a chapeau to her ensemble for a finishing touch and toted a Coach bag in white with star patterning and embellishments.
Fanning’s look hailed from Coach’s 2027 resort collection, which, under the creative director Stuart Vevers, focused its sartorial language on youthful and easy-to-wear pieces. The collection debuted last June.

Fanning’s look had the makings of a mob wife sartorial statement. The trend went viral on TikTok in 2024, a response to the “clean girl” aesthetic that had also swept the internet.
