Uniqlo to Enter Vietnam in Fall 2019

TOKYO—Uniqlo said Thursday that it will be entering the Vietnamese market next fall. It is the latest of several similar announcements that the Japanese apparel retailer has made just this year, as it continues its aggressive worldwide expansion. The first Uniqlo store in Vietnam will be located in Ho Chin Minh City, and the company said it will focus on establishing its presence and brand in that region before considering expansion to other areas within the country. “Our entry into Vietnam is an exciting milestone for everyone at Uniqlo. The Southeast Asia region has been an important driver of growth for us, and we are pleased and optimistic about our opportunity to be a part of such an exciting economy and retail market,” Tadashi Yanai, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Fast Retailing, Uniqlo’s parent company, was quoted as saying in a release. “We look forward to introducing Uniqlo and our high quality, affordable LifeWear apparel in Vietnam, and to making a positive contribution to the economy and communities where we operate.” Uniqlo is quickly expanding its global network of stores to new markets.
