Kate Middleton channeled wintertime blues with her Chris Kerr coat during a visit to Scotland alongside her husband Prince William on Tuesday. The Princess of Wales wore a blue coat with a plaid checked pattern in varying shades. The coat was constructed with precise tailoring by London-based designer Chris Kerr, featuring such details and elements as sharp shoulders, long sleeves and angular lapels and hip pockets with a double-breasted silhouette. The British royal family member also wore a black turtleneck and accessorized her look with a pair of oval sapphire drop earrings — not only accentuating her coat, but also complementing her engagement ring, which previously belonged to Prince William’s mother, the late Princess Diana. Chris Kerr’s bespoke tailor label was founded by the designer’s father in 1960. Kerr’s father, known as Mr. Eddie on the designer’s official website, was the go-to tailor for several stars of the “swinging sixties.” Kate Middleton, left and Prince William Samir Hussein/WireImage Chris Kerr has become a favorite among Kate Middleton’s frequent London-based designers and labels.
