PARIS — Scotch & Soda is adding eyewear to its product range. The Amsterdam-based fashion retail brand has launched its first eyewear collection for spring 2020 in a licence deal with Hong Kong-based Mondottica. The collection will drop in stores, at select opticians and on the label’s web site this month. The collection, for both men and women, was inspired by the landscapes of Hawaii and Musa-Shiya, one of the original Hawaiian shirt makers. The tropical vibe is translated by sunset-hued gradients and sand-colored lenses on sunglasses, as well as palm leaf engravings on eyewear models, all with a vintage feel. Launching eyewear is the next stepping stone in the brand’s expansion plan: in April 2018, Scotch & Soda signed a long-term licensing deal with HS Footwear GmbH, a subsidiary of Hamm Market Solutions GmbH & Co. KG in Osnabrück, Germany, for the international distribution of footwear. In June 2019, longtime Stella McCartney chief executive officer Frederick Lukoff took over the top job at Scotch & Soda to pilot its expansion.
